405 Nickel Bar
UNS N04405
Nickel 405, commonly known as UNS N04405, is the free-machining version of Nickel 400. The addition of sulfur enhances the material’s machinability. Nickel 405 has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of media, particularly resistant to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids when they are de-aerated. Nickel 405 can be slightly magnetic at room temperature and has excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Nickel 405 has good mechanical properties from subzero temperatures up to 896° F making it the alloy of choice for chemical, oil and marine industries.
Industries that use 405 include:
Products partially or completely constructed of 405 include:
- Fasteners
- Meter and valve parts
- Screw machine products
